These were !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Still no info on whether it will be a hatchback (as the similar to 3 series GT roofline might suggest) or a regular trunk. I think it might be a regular trunk, it's more of a notchback look than the 3 GT.
Now the question is how big is this thing actually going to be. The regular 3er sedan and 4 coupe both have a 110.6" wheelbase, and they're within 1/10" in length (182.5" for the 3 sedan and 182.6" for the 4 coupe). The 3 GT is has a 115" wheelbase and is 189.9" long.
If we look at height, the 4 coupe is 54.2" tall, the 3 sedan is 56.3" and the 3 GT is 59.4".
I'm guessing the 4 GC is somewhere around 55" tall. So, not quite as much back seat space as the 3 sedan, but infinitely more usable than the 4 coupe.
Whether that translates into lots of sales....who knows?

It's a better looking 3 series. That's it.

I can't be the only one thinking "WHY the f*ck does this car exist?!"

This thing still confuses the shit out of me. I see no reason for it's existence whatsoever.

Which means they should have just made this the 3-series, made the 4-series a 3-series coupe, and called it a day. I never got the impression there were a lot of people going "GOSH, it's so confusing that the 3-series comes in both a sedan and a coupe." Because if they were, they would need to invent numbers either before, after, or in-between 3 and 4 to give the wagon and convertible their own series as well...

The 4 Gran Coupe, for when you want something swoopier than a 3 sedan, can't live with the 4 coupe's lack of rear doors, but are willing to give up some of the 3 sedan's back seat room (and probably some more of your money) in a trade for a swoopier look.

I can't see this selling that well. It's going to be getting into 5-Series money territory, and although there will be people who like the look of it, I don't think they'll justify spending the extra on the 4, when they can get a 5 for just a bit more.

328i - $37,300
428i - $40,500
528i - $49,500
I'm guessing it'll be priced more like...the 4-series.
Not everyone wants a bigger car.

Hopefully not for a 20% premium you pay when going from a 5-series to 6-series gran coupe.

Exactly. BMW should just make one coupe ( a real coupe) and one good looking sedan. Making two sedans that are the same size is stupid and has got to be expensive for BMW.

What the really should be doing is redesigning the front end of their cars so they can pass Euro safety regulations without that stupid fucking straight line across the nose.

The price gap from the 5 series up to the 6 is pretty big regardless of door count on the 6. The 6 GC is only a couple grand more than the coupe.
The regular 4 coupe on the other hand is only a couple grand more than the 3 sedan. So if you figure the 4 GC might be a bit more than the 4 coupe, then it might be like $3-4k more than the 3 sedan.

yeah, ill stick with my normal 3 series. I understand what they are getting at, but don't understand the ridiculous upcharge that will accompany it.

This is just the 3series sedan with the m-sport package. It's like they are not even trying.

I don't want a 5 series, and it doesn't even come in GC trim. Please give me this 3.5 series

THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING!!!!

Ahh, but then couldn't charge the premium for the car they should have offered in the first place!
I currently own an E92 and I love it, but at the rate BMW's going, it may likely be my last.

Well, the whole roofline is different, and it gains quarter windows aft of the back doors whereas the 3 sedan has all of its rear side glass contained in the door itself. Also it looks like the side windows are frameless. Yes there's a lot in common with the 3 sedan but the whole greenhouse is different.

So this a 4 series, a coupe number, with four doors? BMW you confuse me so much.
